After the sensational success of his two previous Kabuki productions at the Kabuki-za, "Togitatsu no Utare (Togitatsu's Revenge)" in 2001 and "Nezumikozo (Mouse Thief)" in 2003, this summer Noda will present his unique original staging of Verdi's masterpiece opera "Aida."
Here, Noda has changed the setting from conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia to the Warring States Period in Japan (1467-1568), also creating a poignant love story set against the wider political agenda.
